In 2015 Hannah Timmons and her wife Paige Harris moved on to Hannah’s family farm, a former plantation, to make a documentary about the past, present, and future of Inglewood Farm in Central Louisiana - a leader in sustainable agriculture in the region. But when a friendship developed between Hannah and John Ashley Jr., a man that grew up on Inglewood during its phasing out of sharecropping and the beginning of its mechanized, conventional operation, the film changed course.

“Mr. Ashley Lived Here” is a documentary short with hand drawn animation capturing the personal histories of sharecroppers on a cotton plantation in Alexandria, Louisiana.

We hope you’ll enjoy watching as much as we’ve enjoyed making the film. We think you’ll love Mr. Ashley, and his friends.

Cheers!
